Whether you are a ‘twitcher’ or just keen to learn more about birds, this course with EcoTraining will broaden your understanding and knowledge. The course is caters for those who wish to learn the basics of bird identification or improve their existing identification skills. There are some workshops, however it is very much practical courses with hours spend out in the field learning how to successfully identify birds by both sight and sound. We are confident that any person attending the course will leave us more enriched and with greater confidence in being able to pass on the wonders and beauty of African birdlife.

Africa offers an abundance of birds across the many different ecosystems. This experience will provide you with an amazing opportunity to explore the world of the birds of Africa with an experienced guide.  Guaranteed to broaden and enrich your knowledge and skills by educating you about the fascinating world of birds. The experience operates throughout the year with set dates. Price includes accommodation in fully equipped two person tents with bedding, all meals and professionally trained guides in an unfenced wilderness area.

The Story

This experience is operated by our education and travel partner EcoTraining.  EcoTraining was established in 1993 and is the premier safari guide and trail guiding organisation in Africa.

EcoTraining’s mission is to educate people on the importance of the wilderness and especially the processes that drive the natural ecosystems of the world. With new understanding, the hope is that participants on an EcoTraining experience will go out into the world with the visions to make a difference to the way we look after our planet in their day-to-day lives.


Our tented camps are located in wildlife conservancies and we aim to minimise our impact on the environment. All accommodation is in two person tents including bedding. Our camps are unfenced meaning that we often have many different wild animals visiting our camps during the day and night. All meals are included in any stay including early morning breakfast, brunch, afternoon meal and dinner. Alcohol purchases are additional.
